The Walking Dead: Survivors

The Walking Dead: Survivors is a free strategy game for mobile devices. The game is set in the universe of The Walking Dead. The game takes us to the postapocalyptic world overrun by zombies. We play as survivors, who have to create a safe shelter. For this purpose, the player will gain resources, recruit new inhabitants of the community and interact with characters known from the series.

Mechanics

The gameplay in Survivors is similar to other mobile strategies such as Clash of Clans or Game of War: Fire Age. The aim of the game is to build a prosperous city where survivors can find a substitute for a normal life. There are two types of resources in the game, namely food and wood. Food is used to recruit new survivors. Wood is used to build new buildings. Recruited people can be assigned to buildings to improve their performance or send on expeditions to get resources. We also have to take care about settlement safety by building palisades and watchtowers. In this way we can defend ourselves from hordes of undead or hostile survivors. An important element of the game is exploring the map and setting up posts. By sending our units to some locations we can take control over them. This provides the player with a steady supply of resources.

As in many other mobile games, almost every action costs the player valuable time. To construct buildings, train soldiers or recruit survivors we have to wait. It can be seconds, minutes, hours or much longer. This process can be accelerated by using diamonds, a special currency costing real money.

Game modes

Survivors is a social game and includes multiplayer elements. Players can join common clans and fight for dominance against enemy factions.

Technical aspects

The game presents a rather simple graphic design. Character models visible during gameplay are small and not very detailed. During dialogues the characters are represented by comic drawings.
