The Uncertain for PC, AND and iOS is a game by an independent studio, ComonGames. The developers are responsible for various smaller productions, with the said title being the most ambitious project of the studio. The game is a mix of exploration game and adventure genres, with the action seen from a first person perspective.

Plot

As a result of wars lasting multiple years, the humanity became completely extinct. Earth has once again been overgrown by plants and other simple life forms, which are accompanied by AI-controlled robots. The player assumes the role of a robot called RT-217NP. The protagonist attempts to understand the human nature and the reasons for extinction of the whole civilization. The plot is unveiled through conversations with fellow androids, as well as through notes found along the way. Our actions have some influence over the relations with non-player characters, and the story can have several outcomes.

The Uncertain for PC, AND and iOS is distributed in form of episodes – in each of those, the player controls a different machine. First episode, called The Last Quiet Day, lets you assume the role of an engineering robot, with other protagonists due to appear in next chapters.

Mechanics

Exploration of the environment is the core mechanic of The Uncertain. The list of areas includes not only outdoor regions, such as untouched forests, but also various buildings, which are a memento of a lost civilization. In such places, the protagonist finds useful items, which then can be used during the game. Environmental riddles sometimes require using these resources. The puzlles often force the player to think unconventionally.

Technical aspects

The Uncertain for PC, AND and iOS is powered by the Unity engine, which allows for high quality visuals. The vegetation has been crafted with attention to eye-catching details, similarly to other elements or character models. The visual side is complemented by atmospheric, ambient soundtrack.
