The Metronomicon: Slay the Dance Floor Description
The Metronomicon: Slay the Dance Floor for PC, PS4 and XONE is an unusual mixture of a rhythm game and an RPG; it is an extended version of 2016's The Metronomicon, which came out for PCs. The console edition includes the expansion (Slay the Dance Floor), which above all, introduced the co-op mode into the game. Owners of the original PC version received the add-on for free.
An independent studio called Puuba developed the game. Although the company has not created any larger games, some players may know it for The Weaponographist (2015). Akupara Games was the publisher – this company is popular for such titles as Star Vikings Forever or Whispering Willows.
Mechanics
The player takes part in a fantastic adventure and the game requires them mainly to fight monsters and dangerous humans to the rhythm of music. Combat resembles music games, such as those belonging to the Guitar Hero series. In order to attack and defend themselves, the player has to press buttons, the representations of which are falling down the screen towards four characters. Importantly, the player can switch between the characters in combat, using their unique abilities. One of the characters is good at striking, another heals effectively, etc. This also means that having an adequate team is crucial for success here.
As in any serious role-playing game, the player gains experience in The Metronomicon, which allows them to develop their characters. Furthermore, the player recruits new fighters and gradually acquires better equipment alongside progression.
Game modes
The Metronomicon: Slay the Dance Floor for PC, PS4 and XONE offers a story campaign, as well as a few other modes, such as Arena or Freeplay. The first of these gives an opportunity to fight duels against enemies, while the latter offers fighting to the rhythm of music, but without any consequences. Moreover, the game features regularly updated, Daily Challenges.
Technical aspects
The visuals in The Metronomicon: Slay the Dance Floor for PC, PS4 and XONE are simply good. The game offers a cartoonish graphic style, fighting is accompanied by eye-pleasing special effects, but its main feature is contained within the audio. The creators implemented a diverse soundtrack, which had been worked on mainly by YACHT, Perturbator, J-Punch and DJ CUTMAN. Additionally, Jimmy Urine added some exclusive songs from Mindless Self Indulgence, and Shiny Toy Guns.
