The Mermaid's Tongue Description
The Mermaid's Tongue is the third installment in a series of point-and-click adventure games, a sequel to 2014's Detective Grimoire and 2019's Tangle Tower. Like the previous installments, it was developed by SFB Games.
Plot
The returning protagonists of The Mermaid's Tongue are Detective Grimoire and Sally. The game is set on the world's strangest submarine, the captain of which, Magnus Mortuga, died under unexplained circumstances. Various rumors circulated about the captain; some thought him a vampire, others thought him cursed, others yet an immortal time traveler. Yet another mystery is the fact his corpse's been found next to an unsealed, ancient stone cauldron...
Detective Grimoire and Sally must find out what exactly happened within the locked captain's cabin.
Mechanics
The gameplay of The Mermaid's Tongue revolves around investigating. The player must traverse the submarine, talk to various characters (many of whom act suspiciously), gather clues, evidence and useful items. There are also many different puzzles to solve.
Technical aspects
The Mermaid's Tongue features colorful, cartoonish visuals and a slightly caricatural artstyle. The dialogue is fully voiced, while the atmospheric music was performed by the Budapest Art Orchestra.
