The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie

The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie is the next installment in a popular jRPG series by Falcom.

Plot

The game is set five months after The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV. It is to be the culmination of the series' storyline, a grand finale bringing back many previous characters.

After the events of The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure and routing enemy forces from Crossbell, Lloyd Bannings prepares for a ceremony celebrating the city-state's regained independence. Unfortunately, that's when Rufus Albarea, the former governor now released from prison, carries out a cunning scheme that forces the hero and his allies to flee. The villain takes over Crossbell, preparing to conquer the surrounding countries.

Meanwhile, in the kingdom of Erebonia, Rean Schwarzer (the protagonist of all four Trails of Cold Steel games) is recruited alongside his student to find the missing Prince Olivert. During his quest he's assisted by the third protagonist, the mysterious C.

The fates of all three heroes are closely tied together, soon having them decide the future of the entire continent.

Mechanics

The game expands on the ideas introduces in the previous installments. The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie is a classic jRPG. Players explore the world, complete quests, develop their characters and engage in turn-based battles.

Each character has their own personal storyline, while the player can freely switch between them. Apart from the three protagonists, there are over fifty recruitable characters, all with unique skills.

The game also features procedurally generated dungeons and various mini-games.

Game modes

The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie only supports singleplayer.

Technical aspects

The game features simple, yet appealing anime-styled visuals.
