The King of Fighters 2002: Unlimited Match Description
The King of Fighters 2002: The Unlimited Match is a greatly expanded version of the hit title developed by SNK and Eolith in 2002. The title is an expanded version of the game that summarized the entries in the series released in 1999-2002. The new edition introduces some new features. Similarly to the original version, it is a so-called dream match that collects popular characters no matter what their status is. Among the playable characters there are fan-favorites like Kyo Kusanagi, Terry Bogard and beautiful Mai Shiranui. The game also features characters from series Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting and Ikari Warriors.
Mechanics
Contrary to other re-editions, The King of Fighters 2002: The Unlimited Match was greatly changed and expanded in comparison to the original version. The title includes all characters from editions 99-02, including a new character, Nameless, who replaced K9999. The developers prepared new backgrounds, intro and soundtrack. The title also features new materials, including artworks and the original version of The King of Fighters 2002. These can be unlocked as player progresses through the game.
The gameplay mechanics are based on regular attacks, special attacks and combos. The developers focused on balancing character strengths and presenting new techniques. The series is famous for its great combat system based on combos and for perfect collision detection. The game includes many bosses that are very challenging for the players. Among these bosses there are Rugal, Krizalid, Igniz and even Geese Howard.
Technical aspects
The graphics in The King of Fighters 2002: The Unlimited Match are simple and classic. Fighters are created from sprites taken from previous entries in the series and the backgrounds combine 2D drawings and 3D objects. The game is complex, dynamic, and accessible for new players.
