The Devil Within: Satgat Description
The Devil Within: Satgat is a metroidvania game, created in the form of an action platformer. The development of this game was handled by the independent South Korean studio Newcore Games, founded in 2020.
Plot
The action of The Devil Within: Satgat is set in a fantasy land. The prevailing peace was disturbed by the appearance of a mysterious tower called Ebon Sting. Although initially the construction seemed to bring prosperity, it was quickly discovered that it was turning people into demonic beings. Kim Rip, a royal guard, decides to investigate the matter. Risking his own life, he sets off on a journey to reach the core of the tower and destroy the building before it causes the destruction of the entire world he knows.
Mechanics
In The Devil Within: Satgat we watch the action from the side. Adventure leads us through various locations - Kim gets to visit an abandoned modern metropolis, industrial complexes and undergrounds, dense forests and mountain peaks, and even a town straight out of the Wild West. Individual levels are connected to each other, creating a kind of labyrinth.
While traversing them, we jump on platforms and avoid traps and terrain obstacles, as well as confront enemies. On our way, we encounter both ordinary enemies and bosses who are much more powerful, possessing greater attack power and resistance to damage. We eliminate enemies by using melee weapons and various combat skills.
As we progress, we acquire additional offensive and defensive abilities. Defeating subsequent Arch Devils allows us to absorb their powers, leading to facing ever greater challenges. This power, however, comes at the cost of our own humanity. In addition to this, the skills we acquire allow us to access previously inaccessible places.
Technical aspects
The Devil Within: Satgat runs on the Unreal Engine.
