The Curfew is a point and click browser adventure game created by Littleloud studio in cooperation with Channel 4, a British TV station and a number of international organizations. The aim of this project was to draw young people's attention to the lack of respect for fundamental civil liberties in some countries and the exercise of authoritarian rule in them.
We observe the game from the perspective of the first person and move between static locations. The adventure begins in 2027 and the players are guided by the actions of a member of the resistance movement who owns the important data files desired by the authorities. He has to get rid of them, because the police have followed him. She is taken to a hiding place, where four young people are currently staying, also declaring their opposition to the regime. The player's task is to decide to whom they can be trusted and to whom they can give their information.
In order to do this, we talk to everyone one by one, starting with a boy named Lucas, and we recreate past events from their perspective. We find out how they find themselves in the current situation and why the police are looking for them. While discussing with the people we meet, we try to push the action forward, as well as find bonus items. From time to time we take part in mini-games, e.g. propaganda shooting at moving targets represented by activists on the laptop of one of the heroes.
The Curfew has a very high level of audiovisual setting. The game was shown by means of photo-realistic graphics with live actors. Dark locations and depressing climate dominate. In this respect, Littleloud's production is reminiscent of another independent title - Trauma.
