The Crow: City of Angels Description
An adaptation of a 1996 Hollywood movie, developed by Gray Matter. The game is a 3D fighting game in which the action is presented with the use of static cameras suspended in fixed places.
Story
Los Angeles. Mechanic Ashe Corven and his eight-year-old son Danny are random witnesses of the murder of the influential gangster Judah Earl. The man recommends the removal of uncomfortable witnesses and getting rid of the bodies. Unexpectedly, Corven is brought back to life by the raven. Inspired by the desire for revenge, he starts a private vendetta.
Mechanics
The Crow: City of Angels is a typical three-dimensional walking brawler. The player-controlled hero can move in six directions and aims to eliminate all the opponents he encounters by hitting them with his hands and legs. Occasionally, Corven can also use weapons acquired from enemies, including guns with limited ammunition. The action is presented in a similar way as in the first installments of the Resident Evil series, i.e. with the use of statistic cameras presenting a section of a given level.
Technical aspects
Published by Acclaim Entertainment, the game is based on the dark stylistics known from the movie original. The title combines 2D and 3D elements - 3D character models are set against 2D backgrounds. The visual advantage of the game are FMV inserts, showing the subsequent threads of the story.
