Continuation of the arcade VR game from the developers of the Crysis series. This time Crytek studio allowed us to rush on extreme routes not only in the mountains and caves, but also on the tops of skyscrapers.
The Climb 2 is a sequel to a first-person arcade game using virtual reality technology. The first part of the series was published in 2016 as the work of the German studio Crytek. The team is mainly known for its futuristic FPSs from the Crysis series, but also for another VR game: Robinson: The Journey.
Mechanics
The developers of The Climb 2 remained with the gameplay mechanics from the previous part of the cycle. So we go on the most extreme routes without any security and try to get to the destination before the time limit. We jump from edge to edge, find useful but risky shortcuts and try to balance the rush with caution. All this from a first-person perspective and using virtual reality technology.
Second part adds variety to the gameplay with new types of routes. In addition to the cross-country runs and caves, there are huge skyscrapers and even an erupting volcano. In total, the game offers 15 different maps inspired by places in Europe, the USA and Southeast Asia.
Game modes
The Climb 2 allows you to play alone, but the developers have taken into account online rankings and the possibility of competing with friends in asynchronous multiplayer mode. Crytek also allowed for stress-free enjoyment of the beautiful locations of the game in the Tourist Mode, which simplifies the gameplay and removes time constraints.
Technical aspects
Unlike the previous part of the cycle, The Climb 2 requires the Oculus Quest virtual reality set to work. In addition, the Crytek studio once again used its own CryEngine technology to create the most realistic and detailed locations possible.
