The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+

The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ for PC, SWITCH and etc. is a second expansion for The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, which debuted in 2014. It was a complex remake of incredibly popular The Binding of Isaac, which was based on Flash and appeared on PC in September 2011. It was the work of two people – Edmund McMillen and Florian Himsl, with the first being known back then from a platformer Super Meat Boy, which won hearts of players in 2010. He also worked on The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+, along with Nicalis studio’s team.

Game mechanics

The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ doesn’t change fundamental features of gameplay. This still is a two-dimensional roguelike arcade game, in which we explore randomly generated labyrinth, fight enemies, get power-ups and discover various secrets. Similarly to the first DLC, Afterbirth+ offers many novelties for fans. Veterans can count on tens of unique items that can create even more powerful or surprising combinations. There are also new monsters dwelling on every floor, which can be checked in added bestiary in main menu. As we explore labyrinth of basement, we can find new rooms, including very rare chambers with precious treasures.

Game modes

The add-on introduces new difficulty level for Greed mode, as well as new final chapter of the story, with unique ending and additional boss. Players also received another playable character and five more challenges.

Technical aspects

The biggest novelty in The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ is an addition of built-in modding tools, which can be used to freely modify major features of The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. This includes creating new items, monsters, characters and even modes or campaigns.
