Darwin (also known as The Adventures of Darwin) is a simple real-time strategy with elements typical of arcade and logic games. The general rules of the game are similar to the titles from the Pikmin series, published on the Gamecube console. During the game we take control over a group of primates, trying to protect them from total destruction. This game is characterized by a relatively simple control and the possibility of direct participation in the events taking place on the screen. We are becoming the leader of a gradually growing tribe.
The plot of the described game refers to a certain apocalyptic vision, warning about the approaching catastrophe. A huge asteroid is heading towards the Earth. The only chance to save the primates is to direct them to the path of evolution. This is, of course, a very long process. Ultimately, however, we must contribute to the development of methods that will make it possible to neutralize the problem mentioned above.
Practically all the fun is based on the need to support the prehistoric members of the tribe. We start the game with the simplest activities. So we teach beings subordinate to us, among other things, to acquire food. In this case they may equally well take care of harvesting fruits, as well as hunting predators (tigers, dinosaurs, etc.) that live in the surrounding areas. The next steps may concern the construction of shelters and tools. Initially these are very primitive objects. With time, however, members of the tribe begin to use spears or arches. It is also very important to develop a method of mutual communication.
At all times we have full control over the figure of the village leader. We give appropriate orders to our subordinates. We can also set them in formations. AI of computer allies is gradually improving. As a result, they are able to understand increasingly complex commands. At the same time, we explore the surrounding areas, collecting valuable items and solving simple tasks. The whole is played in a three-dimensional environment. On the screen we can see very clear icons, informing about the most important issues related to the proper functioning of the village.
