Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Smash-Up is a fighting game based on a popular comic book and animated TV series. The game developers decided to create a brand new story – the script was written by Peter Laird himself (the author of the TMNT comics) – which is quite different from what we would see in the past. Once again four brave reptiles – Leonardo, Donatello, Michaelangelo, and Raphael – stand to fight against evil. Their actions are overwatched by their sensei – Splinter the rat. The heroes have unique skills they use in combat. As befits ninja warriors, the turtles can scale small walls and make long jumps in order to reach secret places. The array of their skills also includes spectacular attacks.

The game lets you use the remote controller and the Nunchaku at the same time, but you can also use the Wiimote alone. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Smash-Up features several game modes, including: Story Mode, Battle Royal, Tournament, and Training, the most important being the first one, which takes you through numerous game levels and lets you unlock many characters known from comic books and TV series.

The game features 2.5D technology, which puts depth into traditional two dimensions. Now it is possible that the characters get attacked from the background. The graphics looks really decent and all in-game elements were created with care for details. It is noteworthy that environment is highly interactive – you can use various objects in combat, e.g. kicking a whole in a water tank results in stopping an opponent by spouting water.
