Tales of Seikyu

Tales of Seikyu is an RPG with life simulation and adventure elements. We run a hotel for yokai in the game and it was developed by ACE Entertainment studio. Its creation was made possible, among other things, thanks to a successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.

Story

The action of Tales of Seikyu takes place on the titular island, which is home to so-called yokai - they are creatures from Japanese myths and folklore. Although this place seems peaceful at first glance, its inhabitants live in the shadow of the power of the Old Gods.

During the game we take on the role of a new arrival to whom the deity Inari has entrusted the old farm. From now on, our task is to transform this place into a hotel, where the residents of Seikyu will flock in large numbers.

Gameplay

Running a farm

In Tales of Seikyu we view the events from a third-person perspective (TPP). Our pride and joy is the farm that we are renovating and expanding, as well as furnishing and decorating according to our own liking.

If we want to restore this place to its former glory, we must also devote time to cultivating the land and breeding animals, as well as acquiring raw materials (such as wood or stone) and crafting useful equipment.

The icing on the cake is the possibility of running a hotel cafeteria, where we prepare meals for guests, taking into account the preferences of each of them.

Residents of Seikyu

Getting to know the people of Seikyu also plays an important role in the game. Among them, we will find such personalities as Yoji, the owner of the Shuten-doji bar and a folklorist known for his sharp tongue, or a former mafioso named Otter Andolini.

Each of the over 30 characters waiting to be discovered has a unique past and personality. As we progress, we perform quests for them and develop relationships with them. Some of them may become our friends, and others - romantic partners.

Masks and skills

The game also allows us to travel to the divine sphere, which is a location resembling a labyrinth and filled with puzzles. We acquire special masks in this location and they allow us to change form and possess abilities related to it. For example, as a boar we can ram obstacles, in the form of a dryad we gain the ability to climb vines, while as a raven we can fly.

Exploration

The above-mentioned possibilities are primarily useful when exploring the island. Thanks to them, we can reach hard-to-reach places and find the hidden treasures there, as well as solve puzzles.

When looking into various nooks and crannies, it is worth remembering that not all residents of Seikyu are friendly towards us. For this reason, a combat system has been implemented in the game, allowing us to use melee weapons during dynamic duels.

In our moments of respite, we can spend time with friends or participate in festivals or try our hand at mini-games like fishing.

Graphics

The graphic design of Tales of Seikyu was maintained in manga style.
