My Time at Evershine Description
My Time at Evershine is the third part of the series of sandbox RPGs with life simulation elements, launched in 2019. The game was developed by the independent studio Pathea Games, which has been overseeing the development of the series from the beginning. It was partially financed thanks to the support from the players.
Plot
The action of My Time at Evershine takes place three years after the events depicted in My Time at Sandrock. The game puts more emphasis on the plot and makes us face a better-defined antagonist than in the previous installments of the series.
We end up in the titular settlement. After the conflict between the Duvos Empire and the Duchy of Ethea began to escalate, an Alliance of Free Cities was established to increase the defensive capabilities of its northern borders.
During the game we take on the role of a character who, as the governor of Evershine, must ensure that it turns into a real metropolis. At the same time we need to build a fortress capable of opposing the Duvos Empire.
Gameplay
In My Time at Evershine we view the action from a third-person perspective (TPP). The game provides us with a vast, open world that we can freely explore (on foot or by gliding). Along the way, we meet its inhabitants and perform various tasks that push the plot forward, as well as side quests. Over time, we also get to know the characters who decide to join us. We can travel in the company of a team of up to three people or send companions on individual missions. As progress is made, relationships with selected characters can turn into romances.
Managing an entire team involves taking care of the needs and desires of each of its members. We must pay attention to the fatigue and hunger levels of each character, as they have a direct impact on their performance and combat potential. The game allows to take part in dynamic battles with opponents. The skirmishes are based on a skill-based combat system that rewards reflexes and constant movement.
Our base of operations, and at the same time the apple of our eye and a place we should care about, is the titular city. We slowly develop Evershine by constructing various buildings based on previously acquired resources. Although there is nothing to prevent us from doing this ourselves, the game allows us to send neutral characters to work. As we progress, we also develop our character, who can thus face increasingly greater challenges.
Game modes
My Time at Evershine allows for both solo and online cooperative play. We can play the story campaign with up to three other players, with the host of the session controlling the pace at which the story is revealed.
Technical aspects
The graphic design of My Time at Evershine is maintained in a manga style.
