Revised version of the real-time strategy of 2001, in which we take part in a war between the countries of pigs and rabbits. The remaster was created by Kite Games, founded by several former StormRegion studio staff responsible for the original release.

S.W.I.N.E. HD Remaster is a fun strategy game in which we participate in a conflict between two opposing races: pigs and rabbits. The production is a refreshed version of a game from 2001 and offers some interesting ideas in the field of gameplay mechanics. The refreshed edition of the title was developed and published by the Hungarian company Kite Games, founded by several developers from StormRegion, i.e. people who created the original game (the publisher of the game was Fishtank Interactive, which no longer exists).

Story

The Chinese army led by General SteelFang crossed the borders of carrot country and attacked its peaceful inhabitants, taking control of the territory in no time. Pushedinto defensive, the rabbits are forced to use the typical guerrilla tactics. In the course of the story campaign, the player takes on the role of commanders of both sides of the conflict.

Mechanics

S.W.I.N.E. HD Remaster is a strategy game belonging to the RTS sub-genre. Unlike many other games of this type, InnoGlow's title focuses on the tactical layer, i.e. controlling troops during battle. Players can control a wide variety of units, from infantry to vehicles - light and heavy tanks, artillery, reconnaissance vehicles and even planes.

In S.W.I.N.E. HD Remaster we will not find building bases and collecting resources - instead, for completed missions we receive so-called strategic points, which we spend to gradually enlarge and develop our army, as well as activate some special abilities of individual units.

The creators from Kite Games have made a few improvements to the original version of S.W.I.N.E. - the range of the so-called zoom has been increased (we can move the camera further) and unit management has been improved.

Game modes

S.W.I.N.E. HD Remaster can be played solo or with others. Those who prefer to play in single player mode will find an extensive story campaign, which consists of several dozen different missions. The title also offers the ability to fight single battles with AI-controlled enemies.

Players interested in online modes will have the opportunity to test their tactical skills in battles agains living enemy. The game enables us to fight single local battles (via LAN or the Internet) and offers several different maps and game modes (Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Destroy the Base).

Technical aspects

S.W.I.N.E. HD Remaster's visuals have been refreshed to better fit modern standards. The overall resolution (including the interface) has been increased and the detail of textures has been significantly upgraded, thanks to which the game looks quite decent. The creators also added support for modern widescreen monitors (16:9) and improved animations of some models (e.g. moving vehicle chassis have been added). However, they decided not to interfere with the humorous artistic style and soundtrack.

The game also includes a digital artbook, where we can find concept arts that were never presented before, as well as a film titled Making of S.W.I.N.E. showing the backstage of work on the improved version of the game.
