Sun Haven is an indie game from Pixel Sprout Studios, which was developed thanks to a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. The game is an example of a farm management simulator like Stardew Valley: we move to a fantastic world where we sow, harvest, fish, fight monsters using both tools and magic, and befriend the inhabitants of various cities.
Plot
The action of Sun Haven takes us to a fantasy world, and more specifically to a small medieval settlement called Sun Haven, where together with other residents we try to restore its former glory and life. Revitalization requires us not only to work hard on the farm, but also to perform increasingly complex tasks often requiring visits to neighboring cities - one located deep in the forest and belonging to a race of elves and the other, bustling with nightlife monster city, where the eternal night reigns.
Mechanics
Sun Haven is an adventure game with an engaging story line, combined with a farm simulator, in which, as befits the genre, we sow a variety of plants, water them using tools or magic and then harvest the crops. There is also fishing, cooking food from a wide range of ingredients, making various items - whether useful for the efficient functioning of the farm or serving us as armor, and extracting raw materials from mines. However, unlike in other games of this type, magic plays a large role in the world of Sun Haven, because it allows us to perform almost every action more effectively and quickly. The game includes a skill tree consisting of more than 100 options to choose from, so for the experience points we gain we can facilitate various tasks in the game world.
The game also includes the fight. We can fight with encountered opponents, using cold weapons or firearms, but also magic - provided that we learn it first. The opponents we encounter on our way are diverse and some of them can be a challenge.
In Sun Haven we can highlight three locations - desolate medieval town, the idyllic elven village of Nel' Vari and the bustling monster town of Withergate. Each of them differs in atmosphere and possibilities and in each of them we'll come across a range of different characters. For most of them we can perform tasks for which we receive various rewards. In addition, 15 of the encountered characters are potential candidates for marriage, regardless of gender or race. In Sun Haven at the beginning of the game we create a character and in addition to the characteristics of appearance we choose for him sex and race. There are seven races to choose from in the game - humans, demons, elves, angels, elementals, amari and naga. In addition to this, the game includes a non-playable race in the form of amari, which includes cats, dogs, fish, birds or reptiles.
During the game we have to collect various parts of clothing (over 200) and furniture (over 100), with which we can decorate our home and farm. It's also worth noting that the game includes a variety of animals that we can take to our farm and mounts that allow us to move faster between locations.
