Street Fighter IV: Champion Edition is a mobile version of the famous fighting game Street Fighter IV that was originally released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2009. What’s interesting, the game debuted on mobile platforms before, in 2009 as a special edition of SFIV and in 2010 as Street Fighter IV: Volt. Street Fighter IV: Champion Edition is an improved version of these titles.
Mechanics
Street Fighter IV: Champion Edition for AND and iOS is a full-fledged fighting game. Similarly to the console version, it requires the player to learn how to perform less and more complicated attacks that are used during the battle. There are also special moves, super combos, ultra combos and other advanced techniques available.
The controls are similar to ones used in other mobile games. Virtual buttons and a virtual analog stick are presented on the screen, providing the player with full control of the warriors. This system isn’t as precise as an actual gamepad, but it still works quite well. Champion Edition also supports real gamepads, for example Gamevice.
The game features around thirty characters. This makes it the largest mobile installment of Street Fighter series.
Game modes
Street Fighter IV: Champion Edition for AND and iOS features training mode, arcade mode and multiplayer mode. The latter is played via Internet – it features ranking and friendly matches. The player can choose the region of the players.
Technical aspects
Capcom has used the same graphics technique in Street Fighter IV: Champion Edition for AND and iOS as in Street Fighter IV: Volt. The game isn’t as impressively looking as the console versions because the developers used the original character models to create sprites like the ones in classic fighting games. The game features the same arenas like in original game but they lack animated elements. Despite that, the game looks nice. Its advantage is the lack of black lines that were present on the sides of the screen in the previous mobile Street Fighter.
