A VR action horror based off the popular sci-fi show - Stranger Things. The game has us playing as Vecna, the series' main antagonist, slowly carrying out his revenge plan by spreading chaos through Eleven's world.

Stranger Things VR is a psychological horror action game developed with VR in mind, including Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro. It was developed by Tender Claws and is based off Netflix's Stranger Things. The team is also known for similar games, such as the Virtual Virtual Realityseries, The Under Presents and Tendar. Its release is scheduled for Autumn 2023, though it can also be pre-ordered.

Plot

We play as the main antagonist of Stranger Things' fourth season, Vecna, exploring unknown realms, creating a hive mind and gradually carrying out his revenge plan on Eleven. To achieve his goals, the former patient and orderly in Hawkins National Laboratory assaults the dreams and memories of known characters, using his powers to possess his victim's minds and battle encountered enemies.

Mechanics

The player controls a ruthless killer trapped in an alternate dimension, using his new supernatural abilities to build up his position anew. Through his telekinesis, Vecna is a major threat to the Upside Down and the human world, grasping, crushing and throwing his enemies.

His abilities let him haunt the minds of the franchise's characters, making them subservient to his will and forcing them to carry out his order. We can also look into Vecna's memories too, during his time in Hawkins Lab, while he was discovering the supernatural hive mind.

During the final battle, though, the controlled character can oppose Vecna's will, using powers contrasting Vecna's. The player also decides when to open or close the interdimensional portal, though they must take potential consequences into account, as things can go south very easily.
