A turn-based fantasy strategy from the Polish studio Destructive Creations, clearly inspired by Heroes of Might and Magic 3. Stormbinders features a unique new element in the form of the titular storms. They can influence turn-based battles from the game, taking place on hexagonal fields.
Stormbinders is a turn-based strategy game, heavily inspired by the Heroes of Might and Magic series. The game is the result of a collaboration between Polish teams Destructive Creations (authors of titles such as Ancestors Legacy, War Mongrels or 63 Days) and Innominate Games (mainly known for the project CountryBalls Heroes).
Gameplay
In Stormbinders we watch the action from a bird's eye view. The game provides us with various factions, each one featuring unique units and abilities.
Maps, items, resources and fortress
The gameplay takes place on maps, which we explore in the skin of our character, fighting enemies along the way and acquiring useful items and valuable resources. Equipment enhances the combat potential of our hero. Resources allow us to expand the fortress that is our command center, as well as develop the army under our command.
Turn-based combat and storms
We can make use of our army after an opponent will stand in our way. The battles take place in turn-based mode, on arenas covered with a grid of hexagonal fields. On the battlefield, not only the proper placement of units and skillful use of their strengths matter, but also how we deal with the titular storms.
The world in the game is shaken by storms, which affect the course of battles and force us to change tactics. How well we adapt to them has a big impact on the outcome of a given confrontation.
Story
Stormbinders transports us to a fantasy world where order was ensured by a magical network. When it was broken, chaos ensued within him, and the factions shaking the realm threw themselves at each other's throats. During the game, we find ourselves in the middle of turmoil, and not only our victory, but even the fate of the entire universe depends on our actions.
Graphics
The graphic design of Stormbinders was maintained in a style reminiscent of the first installments of Heroes of Might and Magic series.
