Static Sky is a real-time tactical game set in a cyberpunk atmosphere. The title appeared on iOS mobile devices as a debut work of the Danish Framebunker studio, headed by a former co-founder and former creative director of Unity, responsible for one of the most popular cross-platform gaming engines.
At Static Sky, we head a three-person branch of specially trained mercenaries who have been deceived by their former employer. The team included a heavy weapon specialist, agile street samurai and a secret agent, equipped with two mortal blades. The action of the game was shown in isometric perspective, and special emphasis was put on the tactical layer. The fight takes place in real time, but at any moment of the game we can slow down the time (a kind of bullet-time) and give specific commands to our subordinates. Mercenaries can hide behind covers, murder silently or break into the terminal.
An extremely important element of the game is the possibility of hacking various devices. Thanks to the manipulation of connections, we can, for example, temporarily turn off the watchtower so that our soldiers can sneak past it unnoticed. We can also use the same turret against our enemies by connecting it to the nearest door, which will be automatically shot at the moment of opening. As the game progresses thanks to the collected resources and funds, we are able to improve individual characters by purchasing additional skills, more effective weaponry or other useful items of equipment.
Static Sky on iOS devices is at a high level, which is hardly surprising since it was created by the co-creators of the Unity engine. During the game we travel through a number of atmospheric locations, starting from modern factories, through the roofs of buildings, to the destroyed streets of the city. The atmosphere is further enhanced by dynamically changing lighting and real-time shadows.
