Starport Delta is a strategy game in which we take control of our own space station. The game was developed by the independent team Cloudfire Studios, which previously created games such as Lock, Stock & Floating Barrels and Rampage Arena.

Plot

Starport Delta takes us into the distant future, where interstellar flights are part of everyday life. You play as a specialist hired by the Empire to solve the problems that plague space stations scattered in interplanetary space. He will be faced with such tasks as rebuilding and optimizing the work of individual facilities, hiring employees or taking care of proper functioning of supply lines.

Mechanics

In Starport Delta, the action is shown from a camera located away from our station. At the beginning of the game, we have only a modest port and a support satellite, where the accumulated resources are stored. However, as time goes by, we are gaining the resources necessary to expand the facility. Among the available constructions we will find power plants supplying power to all systems, mining modules with ships specializing in obtaining raw materials from asteroids, as well as shields and laser guns providing our station with protection against threats from space (such as meteorite rains, enemy vessels and monsters lurking in the void). We build new modules on hexagonal fields, in such a way that they are adjacent to each other.

Of course, the space station would be nothing without a crew working on it. The absolute minimum for survival are oxygen banks, farms and housing modules. In addition, from time to time we have to bend over to the desires of our people and fulfill some of them. In this way we are gradually increasing the number of employees, which is reflected in the speed of development of our facility. As we have limited resources, the key to success is to maintain the right balance between the development of individual facilities and the needs of their residents.

Game modes

In Starport Delta, we can find an extensive single-player story campaign where you're flipped between different stations and solve the problems they face. Besides, there's a sandbox mode, where we don't have to worry about any targets imposed from above.

Technical aspects

Starport Delta has three-dimensional graphics of decent quality. The appearance of the individual elements of the station can be liked, and the most interesting are the various backgrounds; apart from the cosmic void, their list includes nebula stars, as well as planetary surfaces.
