Star Wars: Puzzle Droids Description
Star Wars: Puzzle Droids for AND and iOS is a mobile match-3 logic game set in the Star Wars universe. The production uses the free-to-play business model and was developed by Disney, the owner of the franchise.
Plot
Contrary to the majority of match-3 games, Star Wars: Puzzle Droids offers a quite extensive plot which is also based on a rather unusual idea. While playing, we can experience the story of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie but presented from the perspective of the BB-8 droid.
The game tells of the struggle between the Resistance and the First Order, the successor of the Galactic Empire which aims to destroy the New Republic. In the course of the story, we can encounter characters known from the film original, such as Rey, Finn, or Poe. Moreover, the plot includes storylines that were absent in the movie.
Mechanics
In Star Wars: Puzzle Droids for AND and iOS, we do what is at the heart of every match-3 logic game. Random symbols are cast on two-dimensional boards covered with square fields, and our task is to create chains of at least three elements of the same type. The more objects are part of such a chain, the bigger the reward we receive.
The game is more varied than typical match-3 titles. By matching elements, we perform specific missions and fight enemies. We can also make use of special powers that make beating different challenges easier when activated. Our successes are rewarded with special disks that contain the aforementioned droid’s memories, presenting various interesting story cut scenes.
