A remaster of the 2000 action game from PS1, based on the Star Wars: The Phantom Menace movie. Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles offers platforming levels and combat involving lightsabers & Jedi powers. We can fight alone or with a friend in co-op mode.
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles, originally released on PS1 in 2000 by HotGen Studios, the producer Aspyr in cooperation with Lucasfilm Games has refurbished this action game. The main new features of the remaster are modern controls and a cooperative mode for two people on a shared screen.
The action in Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles is based on a movie Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Due to the blockade of the planet Naboo by the Trade Federation, Jedi monks are sent with an order to resolve the conflict. Crossing the swamps, the city of Theed, the desert Tatooine or Coruscant, they fight battles with droids and other enemies.
In Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles we are dealing with uncomplicated action gameplay, in which platforming stages are combined with fights using lightsabers (capable of deflecting enemy projectiles) and Jedi powers. Depending on the chosen character (Mace Windu, Captain Panaka, battle droid), we have different skills. Thanks to the experience gained through victorious battles fought on ten different levels, we learn new moves.
Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles features plenty of boss fights and additional mini-games. The remastered edition includes modern controls, thirteen newly unlocked characters from the start, all available levels, and combat and training modes introduced in later editions of the game.
The remaster of Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles has a “couch” co-op mode for two players.
Graphics in Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles are full of rough angles. We look at the three-dimensional world of the game in an isometric view.

Game Ratings for Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles Video Game.
WayTooManyGames: 4 / 10 by Leonardo Faria
As previously mentioned, I don’t even think this is Aspyr’s fault. Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles is just a terrible game at its core, so all the polishing treatment in the world wouldn’t have fixed its many, MANY problems. It’s a clunky, hilariously ugly, and poorly designed beat ’em up which, at times, feels so janky and unpolished, it almost becomes a funny experience.
Game Rant: 6 / 10 by Cameron Swan
Released 25 years ago, Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles is a divisive game, and Aspyr's modern port doesn't do much to make it a must-play.

Unfortunately, Star Wars: Episode I: Jedi Power Battles is the prime example why not every game should be remastered, let alone considered for the remaster treatment. The combat is archaic and clunky. While I can understand that back in 2000, this was passable and borderline revolutionary, this doesn’t cut it in 2025. This game is clearly for those who hold a fond place in their heart for it. If like me, this would be your first attempt at this game, highly recommend skipping it. There are a bevvy of better beat’em ups available. Never thought playing as Darth Maul would make him such a pathetic weakling.
