Space Tail

Space Tail is a 2.5D platform game with adventure game elements. It was developed by Enjoy Studio, a Polish team for whom it was a debut project, in cooperation with Longterm Games.

Plot

The main character is a dog named Bea. She is one of many animals that were sent into space to pave the way for humanity's cosmic exploration. Most of them paid with their lives, but Bea is an exception and manages to survive.

We will guide this mongrel through adventures on many alien planets, where she will meet both creatures hostile to her and those who will turn out to be her friends.

Game mechanics

Space Tail is a 2.5D platform game, which means that the graphics include many 3D elements, but the exploration takes place in two dimensions. We travel across large maps, overcome obstacles and avoid dangers.

Each visited planet is very different, offering unique conditions and challenges. The game focuses heavily on puzzle solving. The puzzles are numerous and varied, based mainly on manipulating elements of the environment.

What helps us in the gameplay is the detective mode, utilizing the dog's sensitive senses. With the help of the mongrel's sight we can discover threats and interactive objects in the environment. The sense of hearing allows us to detect the movements of enemies, and the sense of smell will warn us of dangerous gases and substances and allow us to track enemies from a distance.

On top of that there is a system of relationships. We meet many strange alien creatures, which we can befriend through various interactions selected from the menu. We have to be careful, because it is not always easy to judge how our actions will be interpreted by the inhabitants of the planet.

Game modes

Space Tail offers only single player mode.

Technical aspects

The strong point of the game is the execution. The planets we visit are very diverse and have been designed with great creativity and attention to detail.
