A 2D arcade game by Ketchapp, a famous mobile game producer, known from e.g. 2048. You task is to colonize Mars. To achieve that, you use special rockets, which consist of modules. Those modules are incinerated during flight, and you have to tap the screen when the fire is closest to a green bar on each module. The gameplay requires good timing and patience, and features other elements for additional variety. You can e.g.
Space Frontier is an arcade game developed by Ketchapp, one of the most active developers and publishers in the mobile market. The game is available for free and ads are displayed while playing. However, they can be permanently turned off by investing a little money.
Mechanics
The title does not have an exciting storyline. The task of the players is to colonize Mars, although it is really about beating records. For this purpose we use a modular rocket. At the beginning, it is a small machine, which has no chance of long flights. However, with each attempt, we receive money to develop it. Thanks to that, with time we fly further and further, eventually reaching Mars, and even beyond it.
When we are able to reach Mars, we begin to send additional passengers into space. We can let any number of daredevils on board - it all depends on the cash we have. The more people we manage to transport to the planet, the more money they will generate when the game is closed. As a result, we collect cash for subsequent rocket modules faster, because in the later phase of the game they are really expensive.
The rocket flying itself has been very simplified. The machine modules burn out and their ends are covered by a thin green bar. We have to tap the screen with a finger when the fire is near it. The closer to the center of the green stripe, the better the rocket will perform, gaining a momentary acceleration. However, if we are late, the machine will be destroyed. Of course, getting the feel of right moment to tap the screen is not that easy, so the longest flights require not only a powerful rocket, but also excellent reflexes and patience.
Developers have made it possible to change the color of the machine. With an excess of cash, we can buy new skins, which are drawn in a special machine. However, they do not have any influence on the gameplay.
Technical aspects
Space Frontier is a two-dimensional game. The title is nicely executed, although it is a bit monotonous. We always start from the same place, and the only changing element is the paint job of the rocket if we buy it. Nevertheless, the title looks good.
