A sequel to a unique adventure RPG by inkle studio, and an adaptation of a popular gamebook by Steve Jackson and John Blanche. The story of Sorcery! 2 continues the tale of its predecessor and takes us to Khare, town of outlaws, where The Festival of Thieves is celebrated. Players have to discover the mysteries of the town, overthrow the council ruling it, and stop an incoming invasion.

Sorcery! 2, available on PC, AND and iOS, is the second installment of the four-part series of video games developed by inkle studio, known for the popular 80 Days adventure game. The game is an adaptation of Sorcery! gamebook created in 1983 by Steve Jackson and John Blanche. The game was originally released on mobile devices in 2013, and in 2016 it was released on PC along with part one.

Plot

The story told in Sorcery! 2 is linked to the first part, but knowing it is not required to enjoy the sequel. People who have completed the first game can import their characters, but nothing stands in the way of creating their hero from scratch. Players go to the city of Khare, where the Thieves Festival is taking place. Our task is to learn the secrets of this unusual location, to overthrow its council and to stop the approaching enemy army. On the other hand, the inhabitants of Khare do not necessarily deserve to be saved, so during the adventure we will have to decide on the future of the city.

Mechanics

The gameplay in Sorcery! 2, available on the PC, AND and iOS, involves exploration (we visit locations such as canals, ship's deck, interiors of some buildings). The locations were designed by Mike Schley (Wizards of the Coast). During the adventure, we discover the history of the city, for example through conversations with the characters we meet. Gameplay also requires you to make choices that influence the further course of the game and dialogues. In addition, we have to fight using a system that matches the available actions to our play style.
