Sonority is a clever puzzle game in which solving riddles is combined with playing certain melodies. The game was developed by the independent German studio Hanging Gardens Interactive.
Plot
The main character of the game Sonority is Esther. The girl comes to the picturesque land, wanting to discover its secrets and find out where its inhabitants have gone. To do so, she'll have to learn the power of music, thanks to the flute at her disposal... and a raccoon with a human voice.
Mechanics
In Sonority we observe the action from the top-down view. We explore picturesque locations and solve increasingly complicated environmental puzzles. The puzzles are based on playing specific melodies; this way we manipulate elements of the environment and, for example, open closed gates or chests, lift abandoned platforms, build bridges over ravines or eliminate all kinds of terrain obstacles that stand in our way. At first, the melodies played by the protagonist are relatively simple, consisting of just three notes. Over time, however, the number of notes starts to increase, which gradually raises the difficulty of puzzles.
Technical aspects
The Sonority graphic design is kept in a colourful, cartoon style. We create the soundtrack ourselves, as we learn new melodies together with the heroine.
