Songbird Symphony is a hybrid, which combines platformer and rhythm game elements, developed by the independent Singaporean team Joysteak Studios. The release of this production was taken care of by the PQube company.
Story
The main character of Songbird Symphony is Birb, a bird orphan that was taken in by peacocks. When the protagonist began to see that he was different from the creatures around him, he decided to leave his family nest and embark on a journey to find the answer to the question of his origin.
Mechanics
In Songbird Symphony we observe the action from the side. The game consists of twelve picturesque locations. Throughout the levels, not only do we jump through various platformer sections and avoid numerous obstacles, but we also interact with the characters we meet; by giving them the feathers that we managed to collect along the way, we can learn something about the world depicted in the game, and even discover the secrets that said world contains.
Birb's singing also plays an important role here. From time to time our character takes part in musical battles, and the rhythmic chirping also allows him to activate additional platforms (which in turn unlocks the way to locations that are otherwise difficult to reach). His musical repertoire can be increased by collecting carefully hidden notes.
Technical issues
The colourful, two-dimensional graphics of Songbird Symphony were made in a pixel art style. The title is also distinguished by a rich soundtrack.
