Soldat Description
Soldat is a project of IT student Michal Marcinkowski, currently being developed by a group of developers from the fan community. The game is distributed under a shareware license. Players can play for free, but a fully fledged product with access to all features requires a one-time fee.
The game is devoid of plot. The player directs the actions of a small soldier, who on several level boards fights with other virtual warriors controlled by other participants of the game in multiplayer mode or computer artificial intelligence in case of one-player game.
The game is based on very simple assumptions. Each participant's goal is to eliminate enemies using a variety of weapons. The arsenal of available weaponry includes a total of 18 extermination tools (from AK-74 and M79 rifles, through the commander's knife and chain saw, to the Rambo bow and flame thrower). Competitions can take place on dozens of boards attached to the game as standard or thousands of boards created by fans and made available via the Internet.
The game offers seven basic entertainment options - Deathmatch, Pointmatch, Rambomatch, Teammatch, Capture the flag, Hold the Flag and Infiltration, which can be further modified by enabling Survival, Realistic and Advance options. Multiplayer entertainment can take place via LAN/Internet (with the use of dedicated servers) or on a shared screen.
Soldat is based on Delphi programming language and JEDI library. The quality of the two-dimensional graphic design clearly stands out from modern production. A huge advantage of the game, however, is the ability to modify almost every graphic element of the game, which resulted in thousands of mods created by fans.
