SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy is a two-dimensional fighting game in which various female characters known from 90’ SNK games face each other. Among the characters, there are women known from games like The King of Fighters and Samurai Showdown. The game’s main mode is tag team – a 2 vs. 2 combat. The title was developed by SNK and it was published by NIS America.

Mechanics

SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy is a classic 2D fighting game. It means that the gameplay is focused on battles fought on two-dimensional maps observed from a side perspective. In each fight, the players are controlling two female characters chosen from a large list. The two characters can be freely switched during the match. It is also possible to combine the attacks of both characters into a single, deadly combo.

The game features a few unusual solutions like items that can be used during the battle that have strong impact on the fight. Players can also perform special attacks with a single button – usually in other games it requires the players to perform much more complicated inputs, which makes SNK Heroines a title that is more casual-friendly. The game also features spectacular finishers Dream Finish that can be performed only once the opponent’s life bar is depleted enough. Using these attacks is required to finish the match.

The game can be played alone against AI or with up to three other players in local or online multiplayer. SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy also features a spectator mode in which players can observe the battles and bet with special points. The points can be traded for new clothes and accessories.

Technical aspects

Although the game is two-dimensional, the graphics in SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy are three-dimensional. They are of decent quality. Characters were designed by using a typical manga-like style.
