Shin Megami Tensei, released on iOS, is a Japanese RPG by Atlus. The production is a mobile conversion of a classic hit, originally released in 1992 on Super Nintendo.
Plot
In Shin Megami Tensei, we play the role of a high school student from Tokyo, tormented by nightmares full of brutal crimes, vile rituals, and horrifying places. Among these dreams, the only bright point is the girl named Yuriko, who claims that the protagonist's and her destiny are connected. One day after waking up, the boy learns that a murder took place in a nearby park and the whole district was cut off from the rest of the city to help the police catch the offender. In addition, the boy receives an email with a program for summoning and controlling demons.
This modest introduction is only the beginning. Over time, we learn more secrets and finally begin to fight for the future of all humankind. In addition, the decisions made during the game have a significant impact on the game's ending.
Mechanics
Shin Megami Tensei doesn't resemble a typical jRPG. Instead, the authors were inspired by PC dungeon crawlers from the late 1980s. The action is presented from the first-person perspective and the fights are done in a turn-based combat system. Fun is based on exploring the world, completing quests, fighting and developing characters.
The key role in the game is played by the system of summoning demons. The player can make contracts with supernatural entities to use them in battle. It is also possible to improve their skills and combine two beings into one, much more powerful. The morality factor is also important: the decisions made during the game shape the attitude of other characters and demons towards us, until we finally choose one of the two sides. However, instead of a simple division into good and evil, there is a dichotomy of order and chaos.
