An entertaining platformer/logic game developed by Rock Pocket Games and distributed by Sierra. Shiftlings sees us assume control of two quirky aliens that take part in an intergalactic reality show hosted by Zookod, a charismatic presenter. We are given over 50 levels taking place on 5 different planets. Each level is filled with various riddles that often see us employ various laws of physics.
Shiftlings for PC, PS4 and etc. is a futuristic platformer/logic game that sees us assume control over two peculiar aliens taking part in an intergalactic reality show. The game was developed by Rock Pocket Games, an independent Norwegian studio, and released by Sierra, a cult-classic developer which has been recently revived by Activision. The new incarnation of the company will offer mobile reeditions of their famed titles, as well as support young independent developers.
Plot
The players are introduced to a reality show hosted by a charismatic presenter named Zookod. The programme’s mission is to deliver quality entertainment to viewers all around the galaxy. Unfortunately, the whole process takes place at the expense of two dim-witted aliens that are tasked with “fixing the galaxy”.
Mechanics
Our goal is to get past 50 varied levels located on five different planets. Each stage is filled with various puzzles that are often solved by manipulating gravity or physics. Our heroes are connected through a special conduit that chains them together and transfers pressure between both heroes, switching their sizes from big to small, and vice-versa.
Technical Aspects
Shiftlings for PC, PS4 and etc. is characterized by colorful and detailed visuals. The players are introduced to a three-dimensional environment, yet the game is a typical platformer employing a side-scrolling camera. The aforementioned presenter, Zookod, is definitely a highlight of the game, delivering sharp comments and funny remarks following the players’ actions.
