Shadowbane: Throne of Oblivion Description
On the 1st of June 2009 the game’s servers were closed and the support from Ubisoft company for the title was terminated.
Throne of Oblivion is the second official expansion to Shadowbane, a popular MMOG (Massively Multiplayer Online Game). Its aim is to expand the game by elements of strategic gameplay – managing towns, building armies, economy, etc. The most significant novelty is the innovative management that lets you become a sole ruler in a given region.
The story in the add-on focuses on an invasion of the realm of Aerynth by forces of the Lands of the Dead. For the first time in the series you can become a vampire (characterized by superhuman strength, unique appearance and gear, and unceasing blood thirst). Playing as a vampire takes much different approach to player vs. player (PvP) gameplay. It also entails new, much darker locations open for exploration.
The list of available classes was expanded by another two: Nightstalker and Necromancer. There are also new disciplines (four are related to sieging), and all classes (Warrior, Mage and so on) gained new, interesting skills, useful while fighting the legions of the undead. Other novelties are rather typical of a MMO game: new quests, explorable locations, NPC, items, etc.
It is also noteworthy that Throne of Oblivion generally enhances the game’s code (mainly client-server communication) and visual effects.
