Shadow of the Beast for PS4 is an action-adventure game that reboots a cult platform game series released for Amiga in late 1980s and early 1990s by Psygnosis company.

Story

This title is not a sequel to any of the previous installments in the series. Instead, it is an attempt to refresh the look of the franchise, while retaining the characteristic feel of the original. The game is set in a fantasy world called Karamoon, a place that, while grim, is in a way beautiful in its brutality. The player becomes a warrior whose goal is to overthrow a villainous tyrant named Meletoth.

Gameplay

Gameplay focuses on combat against hordes of enemies. The character you control makes use of a well-developed combat system, and as you play you gradually unlock new, more and more brutal attacks. What keeps the action going is the hero’s special ability to power up by drinking blood of the enemies he defeated.

Game modes

Shadow of the Beast on PS4 offers unusual social features. While playing, you can come across souls of other players, and call them to aid you in combat or guide you to other locations. Apart from the campaign, the game features also a Survival mode, in which you hold your ground against endless waves of enemies for as long as you can.
