Thief Video Game Series
A highly acclaimed series of first-person perspective (FPP) action games in which the player has the opportunity to take on the role of a thief. The series was created by the now-defunct Looking Glass studio, and its development is currently overseen by the Eidos Montreal development team.
The first game in the series Thief - The Dark Project was released in 1998 and was almost immediately hailed as a milestone in the evolution of the stealth-action genre. On the wave of success, the Looking Glass team began work on the sequel. As it turned out, Thief II: The Metal Age was the last game in the history of the American studio, which declared bankruptcy in 2000 due to poor financial situation. At that time, a number of employees moved to Ion Storm Austin and got busy developing the third installment of the series - Thief: Deadly Shadows (2004). After the closure of ISA, the rights to the brand were taken over by Eidos, which for many years has been carrying around the idea of releasing a sequel.
The basis for the enormous popularity of the games in the series Thief among players is the interestingly constructed world, combining elements of the Middle Ages, Victorian times and the beginning of the era of modern technology development. Also the character of the main character escapes the stereotypes common in video games. After all, raised and trained by a faction of Guardians, Garret uses his uncommon skills for less than noble purposes, dealing with theft and contract killings.
Series Thief brought a breath of fresh air to the stealth genre. These included gameplay mechanisms that were innovative for games with a first-person perspective (FPP), allowing the player to, among other things, steal, stay hidden, attack by surprise and carry out daring thefts.

Action of Thief takes place in a fictional world featuring elements of Gothic, Victorian-era, and steampunk. The story depicts the adventures of the legendary thief who, after returning to the city, gets involved in a complicated intrigue, and the fate of the city's inhabitants depends on his decisions. Main campaign of the game consists of a set of missions involving mainly stealing from various prominent citizens. While controlling Garrett's actions, the player must demonstrate ability to remain hidden, silently eliminate enemies, and his proficiency with various tools of the trade. The game is powered by the popular Unreal Engine 3 technology.

You play as a master thief named Garrett who, properly motivated by his code and love for money, is ready to undertake even the most daring burglaries. Thief: Antologia includes: Thief: The Dark Project (Gold Edition with three extra levels), Thief 2: The Metal Age, and Thief: Deadly Shadows. All the games feature similar gameplay and a large measure of freedom within missions. As befits a stealth game, the player's objectives should be achieved by remaining undetected and operating silently in the shadows. To his end, the protagonist is able to make use of various weapons and many useful gadgets and special abilities.
Thief: Deadly Shadows
Action
May 25, 2004
The third installment in the bestselling first-person stealth series, Thief, developed by Ion Storm studio - team composed mostly of developers responsible for the first two parts of the series. The story of Thief: Deadly Shadows is independent from its predecessors, though once again we play the part of well-known thief named Garrett who was the main protagonist of the previous games as well. This time, Garrett's quest is to stop a long-prophesied advent of an era of darkness, which requires him to steal valuable treasures and artifacts from different parts of the city. But things take an unexpected turn when Garrett inadvertently awakens the ancient evil, and becomes considered a traitor by the members of his guild. In terms of game mechanics, the title does not differ significantly from its predecessors, and every mission in the game can be completed in several different ways. The main difference is the new graphic engine and body awareness mechanism through which we have much more control over the hero's actions.
Thief 2: The Metal Age
Action
March 23, 2000
A continuation of the best-selling first-person stealth game created by Looking Glass Technologies studio in 1998. Once again, we play the part of a thief, Garrett, who is willing to undertake virtually any, daring or not, theft, just to make more money. Thanks to his activities, the protagonist has managed to amass not only sizable assets, but also many bitter enemies, representing three factions governing the city. Thus, in Thief 2: The Metal Age our main task will be to keep Garrett alive and explain the reasons for everyone's sudden increase in interest in his person. Concerning gameplay, the game basically does not differ from the first installment, although player gets a few new useful gadgets at his disposal, such as new types of arrows or an invisibility potion. Artificial intelligence algorithms and the range of potential reactions and behaviors of our opponents were significantly improved.

During the following 12 missions the protagonist will explore various locations filled with many enemies – from ordinary humans, through guards and professional assassins, and up to blood-thirsty fantasy monsters. The game revolves around stealth and encourages you to fulfill your objectives silently while avoiding direct confrontation with enemies, as most of the time they lead to instant death. At the time of release, the game stood out thanks to its impressive three dimensional graphics filled with atmosphere of the dark, Medieval times and suggestive sound effects.
