Sniper Elite Video Game Series
Set in the realities of World War II, the series of action games with TPP and FPP views. The series was created by the British studio Rebellion Developments, which also owns the rights to the brand.
Origins of the series Sniper Elite date back to 2005, when the game hit store shelves Sniper Elite: Berlin 1945. The title was released in versions for Xbox and PlayStation 2 consoles and PC (the Nintendo Wii port was not released until five years later). The tactical, wartime shooter was well received by gamers and critics alike (average reviewer ratings were 74/100 according to metacritic.com), but this did not translate into high sales. In 2012, the developers at Rebellion were tempted to make a sequel - Sniper Elite V2 aimed at Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles and PCs. The series also lived to see a spin-off sub-cycle Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army, which consists of two small-scale productions released in 2012 and 2013.
The action of the games in the series Sniper Elite was set in the realities of World War II. In the solo campaign, players get to know the adventures of Karl Fairburne, working for the American special services. The protagonist is a specialist in eliminating enemies from long distances and perfectly wields a sniper rifle. Complementing the single-player mode is a fully functional multiplayer based on the Internet.
An important element of gameplay in games of the series Sniper Elite is tactics. Operating deep in the enemy's rear, the protagonist must imperceptibly get to places that will allow him to fire an accurate shot at the indicated objects. The game is presented from a third-person perspective (TPP), with the view changing to first-person (FPP) when aiming at enemies.
Games in the series Sniper Elite are characterized by attractive visuals, generated by the proprietary Asura Engine. One of the trademarks of the brand are impressive kill-cam shots, showing in slow motion the flight path of a fired bullet and the damage inflicted on the target.

The fourth major installment in the popular tactical first-person shooter series by Rebellion, in which we assume the role of a trained sniper fighting on various fronts of the World War II. In Sniper Elite 4, we control Karl Fairburne, the protagonist of the previous games, who is sent from North Africa to the Apennine Peninsula. His mission is to cooperate with the Italian resistance in order to help the Allied forces that are pushing to the north. As far as gameplay mechanics are concerned, the game develops the ideas of its predecessor, and our task is to efficiently eliminate subsequent targets; how are we going to do it is entirely up to us. The game takes place on vast sandbox maps and, as usual, puts a great emphasis on realistic recreation of bullet behavior depending on the atmospheric conditions. The title is meant to be played solo or in cooperation mode, although it does not lack for other multiplayer features known from its predecessors.

In the game, one assumes the role of Karl Fishbourne, a sharpshooter sent to the African front where he has to face elite Afrika Korps units supported by Tiger tanks, which spread terror among the Allied forces. The gameplay mechanics remain unaltered, however that does not mean players cannot experience some novelties implemented herein, honorable mentions being significantly larger maps with non-linear structure and even more elaborate X-Ray camera, which is a kind of Sniper Elite series’ trademark. Sniper Elite III: Ultimate Edition, apart from the base game, includes 9 add-ons released after the base game, comprising 3 story-based expansions and 6 weapon packs. Additionally, new maps have been added to the multiplayer, along with a new co-op mission and 2 game modes, namely Capture the Flag and Shooting Range.

Apart from the remastered editions of the games previously released for PC and seventh-generation consoles, the bundle also includes a third, new campaign. The game focuses on fighting the eponymous zombie army created by Hitler in the face of the fall of the Third Reich. The mechanics are based on those used in Sniper Elite, and the gameplay focuses on eliminating hordes of zombies by using sniper rifles and explosive traps (there are 25 weapons to choose from). You can take advantage of you enemies' weak spots, e.g. by shooting off their limbs. Hitting the target triggers the X-Ray effect, which shows you the bullet penetrating the enemy's flesh. The game's visuals have been improved, taking into account the new generation of consoles.

The third installment in the series of World War II shooters. Sniper Elite III: Afrika once again tells the story of an American sniper by the name of Karl Fairburne. This time, the protagonist is on a hunt for Nazis in North Africa. The single player campaign constitutes a series of missions with gradually increasing difficulty level. The creators from Rebellion studio prepared a cooperation mode as well. The gameplay is based largely on being able to make a good use of a sniper rifle in the game's numerous shooting sequences. Accurate shots are always rewarded with a slow motion x-ray vision of our bullets penetrating the body parts of the enemies. One of the bigger new features introduced in this installment is the presence of structurally open map layouts, which give much more freedom of approach to the players.

The game is a remastered and expanded version of the classic shooter developed by Rebellion and released in 2005. Sniper Elite V2 is set in the besieged Berlin, when the World War II is reaching its end. The player is put in the shoes of Karl Fairburne - an American agent disguised as a German sniper, who is following the traces of Nazi scientists working on a deadly rocket weapon. This new installment does not introduce a new setting, but the protagonist, visuals and levels have all changed. When it comes to the levels, those were based on the missions from the original game. Sniper Elite V2 places special emphasis on realism, taking a set of factors into account when calculating the trajectory of projectiles. Also, the killcam system was improved, displaying an x-ray animation of one's bullet damaging the body of an enemy. An original multiplayer mode is a significant addition here - it focuses on tactical, sniping duels for up to 12 players.

The hero's goal is to deal with the remnants of the Nazi army and agents of the Russian SMERSH and prevent them from taking over secret projects of German engineers and scientists.
