Torchlight Video Game Series
A series of hack'and'slash style action RPG games set in fantasy realities. The brand was created by Runic Games studio, founded, among others, by former employees of Blizzard Entertainment (Max Schaefer, Erich Schaefer and Peter Hu). The series is sometimes considered by many players as the "spiritual heir" to the game Diablo II.
The first installment debuted in 2009 on PC (the Xbox 360 port was released two years later), generating a lot of interest among gamers and critics. Torchlight garnered rave reviews (the average rating on metacritic.com was 83/100) and sold more than a million copies within a year of its release. The story of the game tells the story of the title settlement, the inhabitants of which, in search of magical ore (Zar), have dug into an underworld overrun by monsters. The main character's task is to reach their lowest level, the 34th, and kill the powerful leader of all the beasts, Ordrak.
The success of the first installment was repeated with the release of Torchlight II in September 2012 (seven years later, the production was also released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch). The action of the game was placed several years after the events of the original, when we have to stop an alchemist controlled by evil powers. The villain destroyed the Torchlight settlement and then stole the essence of Ordrak and began to use it to wreak havoc on the world.
When Runic Games closed in 2017, work on the next installment of the series was started by Echtra Games studio. Three years later, the market released Torchlight III (initially in Early Access), for the first time in the history of the series released on several platforms simultaneously (PC, PS4, XONE, Switch). This time our task is to stop the hordes of goblins, undead and Zeal-contaminated wildlife threatening the lands of humans.
Publishers Torchlight, Perfect World Entertainment, twice attempted to release a side-scrolling installment of the series for mobile devices. Both attempts proved unsuccessful: Torchlight: The Legend Continues was canceled after open beta testing, and Guardians: A Torchlight Game was withdrawn from stores shortly after its release.
The gameplay of all installments in the series combines elements of a dynamic hack'n'slash action game and an RPG. The player can choose one of several available character classes (e.g. alchemist and barbarian) with varied attributes and psycho-physical skills, developed with gained experience. The game mainly consists of exploring locations (which from the second part are vast and open), fighting hordes of enemies and completing assigned tasks. Companions (e.g. an animal), as well as a rich assortment of weapons, armor and items prove helpful in exterminating enemies. It is worth noting at the same time that along with Torchlight II there was also a co-op option with a second player, significantly increasing the attractiveness of the gameplay.
Series Torchlight is distinguished by its cartoonish 3D visuals, with intense colors and humorous animations that blend well with the fairy-tale atmosphere. The audio setting of the production is also impressive, mainly thanks to the music composed by Matt Uelmen, creator of the soundtrack to Diablo i Diablo II.

A sequel to the fantasy hack'n'slash game by Runic Games, founded by the creators of the cult game Diablo. The story takes place several years after the events of the first installment. The Alchemist, possessed by malevolent dark forces, destroys the town of Torchlight and steals the essence of power of Ordrak the dragon, the main antagonist of the original Torchlight game. Playing as one of the four available character classes, you have to stop the mad Alchemist and prevent disturbing the balance of good and evil. Compared to the previous installment, Torchlight II features a bigger, open world with diverse environments, changing weather, and a day-and-night cycle. Other elements include randomly generated quests, treasures, and enemies. The biggest innovation is the introduction of the multiplayer mode, enabling you to co-operate with other players, with the use of either the local network or the internet. What's left unchanged are the characteristic fairytale-esque visuals of the game.

A very well-made hack-and-slash game, created by a small studio Runic Games, whose members contributed to such productions as Hellgate London, Mythos or the Diablo franchise. The story begins in the eponymous village of Torchlight, under which large deposits of a magical ore called ember have been discovered. However, the sudden mining boom resulted in another discovery, this time of a great evil lurking underground. This is where the protagonist steps in. You choose from three character classes: Alchemist, Destroyer and Vanquisher. Every class has branched development options and a unique fighting style. The character is accompanied by an animal follower, which helps you with fighting and can carry your items. Like a proper RPG, Torchlight features dynamic real-time combat utilizing the isometric view. The defeated foes drop large quantities of money and useful items, which can be equipped by the protagonist. The visuals are similar to those of Diablo III, although they are slightly more “sugary.”

Developed by Fedeen Games, Torchlight Mobile is a spin-off to a popular hack-and-slash game series. The title was developed from scratch with mobile devices in mind, and thus it is not a simple conversion of any of the previous installments. Torchlight Mobile invites you into a classic fantasy universe, as it stands on the brink of destruction at the hands of servants of darkness. Obviously, the task of defeating the evil forces and saving the world falls down on the player. You can pick any of the four playable character classes: Berserker, Engineer, Outlander, and Embermage, each one representing a completely different profession and requiring different play style. In a typical action RPG manner, the gameplay boils down to fighting hordes of monsters, developing your character’s skills, and upgradeing their equipment, e.g. by combining several weaker items into one more powerful. Torchlight Mobile features slightly cartoonish artworks, characteristic of the core games in the series.
