Sea Fantasy

Sea Fantasy is an independent arcade jRPG in which we save the world with a fishing rod and a hook. The production is the responsibility of Metasla, a three-person studio from Japan mainly involved in mobile games.

The plot

In the world of Sea Fantasy , 70% of the continent has been submerged by war. Rod and Axel embark on a fishing trip, during which they encounter a wounded glowing beast. The dragon enlists the help of the young men to stop the resurrection of the Black Dragon, a biological weapon used during the war. It turns out that the friends' fishing skills will be used to save the world.

Gameplay

In Sea Fantasy, you explore the open world alongside a companion, traveling both on foot, by ship and by submarine. The crux of the gameplay is fishing for more than 100 types of "SeaAZ," mysterious sea creatures. After casting the fishing rod in the place of the found fish, there is a "fight" stage, in which we have to reduce the creature's life bar to zero by performing skillful actions within a certain time.

From the animals caught in this way, we obtain materials useful for creating new rods with characteristic statistics and hooks. Equipment also includes lures and clothing, among others. We par?cipate in trade, and by advancing to subsequent levels we develop the character.

The Sea Fantasy universe, full of islands, abounds in undergrounds, where we encounter traps in addition to treasures. Sea Fantasy sometimes switches from a top-down view to a side-scrolling one, challenging players with platforming or testing dexterity in clashes with the enemy.

Engine and graphics

Sea Fantasy, which runs on the Unity engine, features a pixel-art setting reminiscent of titles made in RPG Maker.
