Project Motor Racing (originally announced as GTRevival) is a car simulator that serves as a spiritual successor of 2 well-known racing series representing this subgenre: GTR and Project CARS. It was developed by the Straight4 Studios team. Ian Bell is at its helm, who greatly contributed to the creation of both brands mentioned above. He started working on Project Motor Racing after leaving Slightly Mad Studios in 2021, which happened shortly after this studio was taken over by Electronic Arts.

Gameplay, cars, tracks

Project Motor Racing places emphasis on realism, going further in this aspect than Project CARS . The creators wanted to provide players with as authentic an experience as possible of racing various cars on famous tracks from around the world (including Bathurst, Monza, Nurburgring, Spa-Francorchamps and Zolder). However, they prepared optional assists for less experienced players.

„You versus your wallet.” Project CARS devs discussed the career mode and announced the release date of their new game, Project Motor Racing

Although Forza Horizon 6 was delayed to 2026 (probably), the second half of 2025 will not be boring at all for racing fans. In the fall, the informal continuation of the Project CARS series - Project Motor Racing - will debut, which will feature an interesting career mode.

Saving Content: 3 / 5 by Scott Ellison II

Straight4 Studios has a game that’s been cooked properly to temperature, but it lacks flavor. Project Motor Racing boasts an impressive roster of cars and tracks, but no real personality to bring it all together. It’s not very welcoming, but if you put in the work, it can be rewarding. The best thing about the game is its career mode, where clawing your way up the ranks makes each victory feel earned. Project Motor Racing is a rookie in the space, but this is a solid entry that those looking for a game geared towards realism and simulation will find plenty of that here, but not much else.

IGN: 5 / 10 by Luke Reilly

Project Motor Racing feels like an early access game that hasn’t actually been identified as such, and is simply not a better racer than its 2017 ancestor Project CARS 2.

Quest Daily: 6 / 10

Project Motor Racing is an ambitious sim that occasionally delivers the kind of immersive experience it promises — but those moments are surrounded by technical issues, thin content, and missing features.
