SaGa Frontier is the seventh installment of the popular series of jRPG game series titled SaGa, and the first to be released on PS1. The title was developed by Square, known as Square Enix since 2003. The company is responsible for such series as Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts and Front Mission.
Story
SaGa Frontier takes place in The Regions solar system, consisting of several planets with different levels of development. Inhabitants of this universe have the ability to move freely between different globes. The game offers seven protagonists, each of which can boast a unique and often non-linear storyline.
Among the playable characters we will find a young magician traveling around the world, who wants to know as many spells as possible before he has to face his twin brother; a former model framed for a murder of her fiancé; a fox-like creature looking for magical rings to help him save his home; an ancient robot trying to regain his memory. The stories of the characters are often intertwined with each other.
Mechanics
Compared to other jRPGs SaGa Frontier stands out above all because of the freedom given to the players - the game enables us to freely travel all over The Regions. The axis of the game is exploration, the performance of story tasks and turn-based battles. Winning in the latter enables us to develop character's statistics - skills we use the most are growing the fastest.
