Rusty's Retirement

Rusty's Retirement is a game combining simplified simulations and economic strategies, allowing us to run a farm operated by robots. The project was developed by the independent studio Mister Morris Games, which in 2022 delivered the warmly received metroidvania titled Haiku, the Robot.

Mechanics

What sets Rusty's Retirement apart from other productions of this type is the fact that the game has been adapted to work alongside other programs. It allows us to choose whether we want to deal with a horizontal or vertical farm. The decision we make determines the orientation of a small window in which the game will be launched, as well as its location - it can end up on the bottom or side of the screen.

Thanks to this, we can play Rusty's Retirement in the background while performing other tasks on our computer. This is also facilitated by the in-game mechanics, because after we plant crops on our farm, the titular robot named Rusty comes into action. It takes care of all the maintenance for us, and the crops it collects are used for the production of biofuels.
