Rune for PC is an action-adventure game based on Norse mythology. It takes place in the Dark Ages, in the times when Vikings were conquering the cold, grim world, and the pagan religion was widespread in the north. You play as Ragnar, a young warrior, who has to defeat mythical monsters and discover the source of evil that has been destroying his people. Utilizing the Unreal Tournament graphic engine, the game consists of 25 levels set in the dark and mysterious world of the Vikings.

Mechanics

Thanks to the advanced body motion animation system, Ragnar and other living creatures move in a smooth, natural way. The game is full of references to Norse myths; apart from the Vikings, it's full of legendary creatures, and many levels, such as Muspelheim (Underworld) and Thorstadt (the Black Vikings stronghold) feature historical or mythical events. The sounds, such as clashing swords, shattering shields, screams from the dungeons, howling wolves, and conversations between the Black Vikings, underscore the atmosphere of the harsh but amazing world.
