Due to the fact that the title was prepared by programmers from across the Oder, it focuses in particular on presenting the silhouettes of German athletes.

We can see both licensed images of female biathlon athletes (Magdalena Neuner, Kati Wilhelm) and male (Michael Greis, Sven Fischer, etc.).

The main mode of the game is career. Once selected, the player creates their own competitor, and then use it to fight for awards in a number of sprint or mass start races. When deciding to take part in one of the above mentioned types of competition, you should share your attention between the fastest possible skiing and flawless shooting at the targets located on the routes. It is worth mentioning that among the 17 locations in the game there are many real locations, for example Oberhof, Ruhpolding or Östersund.

The specificity of each of them can be learned not only during a single race against Artificial Intelligence, but also during races done in the multiplayer mode, which supports up to 4 players at the same time - either through the hot seat option or by the possibility of splitting the screen into two parts. RTL Biathlon 2008 also took care of the technical layer of their project by implementing an advanced graphical engine capable of animating up to 16 athletes at the same time and presenting dynamic weather changes. The sound layer of the game has been enriched with numerous environmental effects, imitating the sounds that a real skier can hear during competitions.
