Spin-off of Rollercoaster Tycoon series, which allows us not only to build our own roller coaster track, but also.... experience it on our own skin. This production can be played normally, or with the use of the goggles of the virtual reality of PlayStation VR. Nvizzio Creations studio is responsible for its creation.
Rollercoaster Tycoon Joyride is a game that enables us to build a three-dimensional rollercoaster tracks and then test them as a passenger. The title is a spin-off of a popular series that started at the end of the 90s. The title has support for VR technology, more specifically PlayStation VR goggles, dedicated to PlayStation 4 (although we can also play without them, on TV). Nvizzio Creations is responsible for its creation and the publisher is the well-known Atari company.
Mechanics
Rollercoaster Tycoon Joyride consists of two basic elements. The first one is a simplified editor that enables us to create our own tracks. We have a wide range of tools and elements to choose from, with which we can implement our ideas. It is worth noting, that in comparison to other installments of the Rollercoaster Tycoon series, the game is still quite simple in this respect. We will also not find an extensive strategic layer typical for the former series.
Instead, the second and very important part of the game is track testing. We get on the coaster cart and let ourselves be carried away by the emotions, observing the surroundings from the first-person perspective. It is worth noting that apart from riding and admiring the views, Joyride also offers an additional attraction, in the form of shooting at various obstacles and objects visible on the track. For hitting we get points, and after the game, we can compare our score with the results achieved by other players.
Game modes
In Rollercoaster Tycoon Joyride we can play solo or with others. While having fun on our own, we can choose the free mode - the so-called sandbox - or play using the progression system, which enables us to gradually unlock subsequent elements (e.g. different carriages).
The local multiplayer mode offered by the game enables us to challenge several friends (up to a maximum of four). The title consists of building a track that our rivals will try our, as well as trying out creations made by them. We can also share the tracks we have created with others via the PSN network.
Technical aspects
Tycoon Joyride's Rollercoaster offers attractive 3D visuals and an advanced physics engine. Graphics are maintained in a slightly comic-book-like style and extremely colorful. In addition, the game experience is enhanced by the use of PlayStation VR goggles - thanks to VR, the ride on a complex, detailed tracks becomes an unforgettable experience.
