Rogue Tower

Rogue Tower is a tower defense game with roguelikes and card games elements. It was developed by Die of Death Games studio.

Game mechanics

Rogue Tower we observe the action from isometric view. We defend our lands against hordes of monsters. Invaders move along certain paths and to repel their attacks we have to set up defense towers in strategic points. The map, on which the game takes place, has been divided into gradually discovered segments. As they are generated procedurally, we can only roughly predict the further course of the paths, and thus plan the location of defense posts. It's worth keeping in mind that the higher a given tower is located, the greater bonus to damage it receives.

As we progress, we gain cards that give us access to new constructions and upgrades for already built towers (among others, increasing the firing range or providing additional bonuses to damage). In addition, we unlock permanent upgrades, thanks to which our effectiveness increases from game to game. The matter is complicated by the fact that the enemies also grow in strength over time. While at the beginning we have to deal with cannon fodder, with time we have to face more powerful monsters that can heal, move faster than the others or call for reinforcements. Additionally, certain towers are effective in clashes with selected types of enemies, so sometimes it's worth considering refraining from expanding defensive structures until the enemy throws new, previously unseen forces against us.
