Retro Machina Description
Retro Machina is an action RPG in a retro science fiction style straight from the first half of the previous century, inspired mainly by the work of futurist Jacque Fresco. The game was developed by the independent Brazilian team Orbit Studio.
Plot
Retro Machina takes us on a journey to a universe in which mankind has long since been lost without a trace. The last remnant of a former world is the city of Endeavor, located under the glass dome. The metropolis is only inhabited by machines that have been taking care of it for hundreds of years, throwing out everything that does not work as it should. This is the fate of the robot who is the main protagonist and who from now on has to find a way to fix himself. While exploring the unfriendly environment, he tries to find other intelligent forms of life, discover the secrets of the world around him and find out how and for what purpose robots were created.
Mechanics
In Retro Machina the action is observed from the top-down view. Exploring the diverse world, which is made up of four vast areas, we need to be on guard because we are not controlling a brave combat robot, but an ordinary heavy machine. Although the protagonist can fight, he also has a few extremely useful tricks at his disposal, the most important of which is the ability to take control of other robots. He uses it to get to places that are difficult to reach, to solve numerous environmental puzzles and even to use his relatives to eliminate more difficult enemies with whom he has to deal with in dynamic fights. Among the enemies we will find both weaker robots attacking in groups and much more powerful machines, headed by bosses guarding access to other lands.
Technical aspects
Retro Machina has colourful, hand-drawn graphics maintained in an interesting, retrofuturistic style.
