Ray Tracers is a unique racing game developed by Taito Corporation. Inspired by arcade machine hits, the game enables us to demonstrate reflexes and dexterity in a range of challenges behind the wheel of sports cars.
Mechanics
Ray Tracers is similar to other racing games designed with arcade machines in mind. The game is characterized by a high pace of fun, simple rules and a simple driving model. Devs enable us to cover entire routes at a speed of more than three hundred kilometers per hour, continuous driving in drifts and ramming other drivers without harming ourselves. The task of the players is not only to complete all the sections within the set time limit, but also to quickly eliminate a specific vehicle at the end of the race. The aim is, among others, to take care of a combat helicopter or an armored off-road car.
Technical aspects
Ray Tracers is a three-dimensional game, whose developers created relatively simple models of vehicles and not very detailed stages to ensure high pace of play. FMV cut-scenes are used to tell the game;s story. Available cars are modelled on real models such as the Nissan Skyline R32, Honda NSX and Mazda RX-7.
