Stone Prophet is a sequel based on the popular Advanced Dungeons & Dragons system, the first-person feature game Ravenloft: Strahd's Possession, produced by DreamForge Entertainment in 1994. The game offers almost the same setting and mechanics as its predecessor, but it tells a completely new story.
It begins when two fearless travelers, sent by Lord Delft, known from the first part of the game, cross the Spatial-Time Portal, moving to the land of Har'Akir. Its immeasurable desert areas are inhabited by a variety of creatures that have been terrorising the inhabitants of a few surrounding settlements for a long time. The only way to remove the ancient curse and escape from this dangerous place is to find the title Stone Prophet - an obelisk carved with mysterious hieroglyphs. The daredevils follow in his footsteps, not realizing that every step they take is carefully following the mummy of the cursed Pharaoh Anhktepot, who is the main cause of the fall of the once happy land.
As in the original, we start our adventure with two members of the team. They can be created from scratch or imported from Ravenloft: Strahd's Possession. The remaining two characters will be searched in the course of the game. The rules of the game were subordinated to the rules of the second edition of the AD&D system, although its fans will certainly notice a few small differences as well.
The game was prepared on the same graphical engine as its original and offers us a vast, three-dimensional environment in which we move smoothly, observing the action from the eyes of the characters. The original combat system also remained unchanged. The main novelty of the game is a completely different place of action - the foggy areas of Barovia were replaced by the desert landscape of Har'Akir, which forced small changes in the mechanics of the game. Due to the need to replenish water supplies frequently, the heroes have to take care of the right water supply or learn special spells for water production.
