Developed by Media.Vision, the title is an arcade 2D side-scrolling shooter. The game resembles the Metal Slug series and enables us to face dozens of enemies on each of the six maps.
Story
Treasure hunters Axel Sonics and Ruka Hetfield learn the legend of the artifact known as Valkiry and set off to find it. They quickly learn that the terrorist organization Pumpkin Heads is also looking for the valuable object and intends to use it to gain power over the world. The race against time begins, with two adventurers facing hundreds of soldiers from the evil organization.
Mechanics
Rapid Reload is a classic 2D side-scrolling shooter in which the characters moves to the right edge of the screen and eliminate all enemies they encounter. For each of the heroses, the devs have created four types of weapons, which differ not only in their power, but also range and mode of action. The arsenal includes not only pistols and rifles, but also lasers and homing rockets. In addition, Axel and Ruka can use the hook line to access difficult to reach places.
On each of the six maps the creators placed hundreds of opponents, as well as mini-bosses and much stronger bosses. The element increasing the dynamics of the game is a system of points dropping from defeated opponents. Collecting them increases the power of the weapon for a moment. In order to acquire more power, players need to quickly eliminate enemies and ensure a regular inflow of points.
Technical aspects
Rapid Reload adopts a slightly cartoonish colorful style, referring to Japanese animation through character models. Kazuki Yao and Noriko Hidaka provied voice to the main characters, both being experienced voice actors who dubbed characters in many popular animes such as One Piece, Captain Tsubasa, Death Note and Pokemon.
